Happy National Root Beer Float Day!
Who doesn’t love a good cold, and creamy root beer float?! I love root beer floats, and enjoy them all year long, so I am genuinely excited to wish you all a Happy National Root Beer Float Day! I remember the very first time I tasted a root beer soda. It was one summer when my family and I took our annual Hersey’s and Dutch Wonderland trip. I noticed my Dad enjoying a drink of soda in a brown can. As an inquisitive six-year-old, I wasn’t satisfied with just asking my Dad what type of soda he was drinking, I also had to ask if I could taste it. Without hesitation, he reached for a plastic cup off of the table and poured me a taste. “This is my favorite soda”; he explained proudly as he poured the fizzy pop into the cup. I was taken by surprise at the sweet and creamy flavor of the soda. “Mmm, I LOVE IT,” I shouted in excitement. My mother interrupted, “well if you love root beer soda, you are going to love this,” as she added a scoop of vanilla ice cream to my cup. I was an instant fan! I had no idea that I would lose my father to chronic asthma the following year, and my life as I knew it would change forever. Now, every time I enjoy a root beer float I am reminded of summer vacations, and good times with my dad. Are you a fan of root beer floats? If so comment below, I would love to hear how you enjoy your float. I hope you can enjoy a good root beer float with your family today.
